Unit 8 When is your birthday?

一、语言知识(常用词汇、短语和表达)
In this lesson, the students will learn four phrases of school activities。They are English test, school
trip, party and basketball game 。Sentence structure, “When is the English test? It’s on October
15th”
二、语言功能
运用一般现在时描述学校活动以及相对应的日期表达方式。
三、学习策略
通过听取关键字的方式提高听力的能力。
四、情感态度
能根据自己的日程表对自己的学校活动进行描述,培养对学习的兴趣。同时通过小组活动培养团结
协作的能力。
Teaching and learning procedures
Step1:Warming up and revision
Review 1: Show the pictures of 12 months and ask the students to speak out the words.
Review 2: After the revision of months, then first review the ordinal numbers. Ask the students to
write down the words according to the request.

Review 3: Show the pictures of five famous people and their birthday dates.



Then ask the students to make conversations like following:
A: When is Yao Ming’s birthday?
B: It’s on September 12th.
(设计说明:对月份以及基数词先进行复习,这是本单元的重点以及难点。然后复习 When is...?的句
型,既回顾了上节课所学的重点句型,又为本堂课所学习的新知识做好铺垫。)
Step 2: Pre-listening
Ask the students a question “ We have many school activities at our school, and what activities do you
know?”. When they are answering, the teacher show some pictures on the screen.

Let the students read the expressions after the teacher. Then, they can speak them out by themselves.
After that come to 1a. Match the pictures with the events.
Check the answers: 1.d; 2.c; 3.b; 4.a
The teacher ask the question, “What do they have now in picture 1?”. The students can say, “They
have a basketball game.”



The teacher can make the students know more phrases such as: birthday party(生日晚会), volleyball
game(排球比赛)and so on.
(设计意图:帮助学生掌握这些短语,可以减少听力中学生提取关键词的难度,帮助他们提高听力能
力。)
Step 3:While-listening
1. Listen for the general idea.
Tell the students that Sally and John are talking about something. Ask the them to listen to the
conversation and find out:

B. about Sally’s birthday party
C. to talk about the date of birthday
