Unit 8 When is your birthday?
The Fourth Period (Section B, 2c–Self Check)
Teaching aims and language points:
1. Learn these words and expressions, and be able to say, read and write them:
 dear, student, thing, term, busy, time, there, next month
2. Learn these words and expressions, and be able to say and read them:
 holiday, National Day, discuss, invite … to …
3. Be able to discuss activities and write a note by using:
 We have some interesting and fun things for you this term.
 On September 21st, we have a school trip in the afternoon.
 This is a really busy term!
 Have a good time!

Teaching steps:
1. Warm-up and revision (课堂热身和复习)
(1) Daily greeting to the students(日常问候)
(2) Revision: Review the numbers by playing the game, I say “one”, you say
“first”.
2. S elf Check.
(1) Complete the chart with the correct forms of the numbers.
(2) Write the dates for these holidays in China. Learn the new
w ords “holiday” and “national”.
3. Study 2b.
(1) Read the text in 2b.
(2) Study the words and expressions in 2b.
4. Discussion
(1) Work on 2c. Discuss the questions in 2c in pairs. Ask some pairs to ask
and answer the questions in front of the class.
(2) Check their homework. Ss take out their calendars and talk about each
other’s calendars using:
What activities do you have this term?
When is …?
5. W riting.
(1) Work on 3a. Complete the note with the words in the box. Learn the word
“there”.
(2) Ask some questions about the note in 3a.
2. Self Check 仍然是复习,复习数
词的拼写和日期的表达,与前面
复习数词的读音相呼应,是进一
步的复习。
教学设计说明
1. 由于数词多,且是这两个单元的
重点,所以要通过各种方式反复强
化。
3. 进一步学习 2b 的课文,侧重语
言知识的讲解和练习。
4. 听力练习的重点仍然是活动和
日期。先听,然后进行口头操练。
4. 讨论 2c 的问题和课前制作的日
程表是为后面写作做准备。有了口
头讨论做铺垫,其后的写作才能轻
松完成。
5. 3a 的便条是 3b 写作的模板。所以
除了完成填空外,教师要引导学生
看明白便条内容。而 3b 的四个问题
的答案就是便条的内容提要,对于
一部分学生来说,教师需要引导他
们弄懂其中关联。

(3) Work on 3b. Ask the Ss to write their own note to a friend .
Ask s ome of the Ss to write their notes on the boar d. Then discuss their
notes with the whole class. Get the Ss to correct any mistake in their
writings.
6. Homework(家庭作业)
(1) Recite the text in Section B, 2b.
(2) Write a school notice like the one in Section B, 2b according to the
calendar you made.
